March 8, GNCC National, Georgia
The Georgia GNCC started out good with a 4th place start. I ran up near the front of the pack the first 10 minutes before slowly fading backwards.
Just two days before the race I had received this new bike, and I decided it was going to be the bike I was going to race. So with one short day of testing on it I was as ready as I could be. The race was only the 2nd day I had ridden these bikes on hard pack ground so I knew i was going to be in for a challenge.
The track was supper rough with lots of mushy ground between all the whoops. I realized after just one lap that I did not get enough test time on the suspension. So I did a couple steady laps, then topped in the pits to change a few of my clickers. And I actually turned my compression all the way in for the stiffest setting and that felt better. But I realized that I hit things harder and faster then most riders that I was going to need my suspension valved stiffer.
I actually stopped another time to try a few more settings, and I think I learned a lot about my suspension in this race. Yes I know I should be completely ready to race, but it's a little bit of a challenge to jump on a brand new bike just 2 weeks before and hope you have everything sorted out. So it was a very valuable time to test my suspension.
I'll have two more valuable weeks to prepare my self for the next round in NC. I'm really looking forward to it and enjoy this track a lot. See you there.
